The most important thing about being a teacher is that it gives an opportunity to connect with a wide variety of students and in turn help them connect with their own selves and choose their own path.To acknowledge the immense contribution of the teachers towards giving shape to the young minds , a day is kept aside to celebrate this noble profession and the people associated with it. This day is 5th September, and in India this day is celebrated as Teachers day every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr Radhakrishnan who was a teacher par excellence besides being a well known diplomat and a scholar. 5th September also mark's the death anniversary of the humble, generous and noble soulful of Mother Teresa. She showed the world that the power of selfless love and service is greater than anything else in the world.
The young Josephites gave tribute to their mentors through this beautiful and well coordinated programme, which was well presented with items like, a dance competition, a skit, medley of performances and a speech by Sr. Asha Agnes, Principal ICSE.
The bright and meaningful programme presented by the students from both the CBSE & ICSE wing proved the capability and showcased the skills of the budding stars of the Josephite family.
Secretary of the school, Rev. Father Arul's presence added grandeur to the programme. Students welcomed their dear teachers and sisters who were the guests of honour with tilak and flowers. The prayer service was conducted by the Sisters, who helped us implore God's blessings and marked the opening of the celebration on a meaningful note. The teachers were felicitated with a memento, as a token of respect and love for their contributions to our school. A welcome song, accompanied by a dance performance set the tone for the smooth conduction of our programme.
Students got to know about the significance of the day and contribution of the teachers in building the future generation. Students of different houses, then entertained the teachers as they took on each other in an exciting inter house dance competition, where each house performed a classical dance of one of the native states of India . The first position was bagged by the Green Shamrock who performed Odissi, the second position was awarded to the Yellow Sunflowers who performed Ghoomar, while the 3rd position was jointly won by Blue Bells and Red Roses who performed a Kerala style dance and Bhangra respectively.
It was followed by a skit, beautifully conducted by the students of CBSE, who highlighted the importance of teachers in shaping a student's life. Students also had the privilege of listening to Principal Sr. Ashas’s encouraging and delightful words. She highlighted the importance of all the teachers and the role they play in the Jospehite family. Students also presented before the teachers a delightful dance performance, filled with graceful movements and gestures as a tribute to their hardwork. The life of Mother Teresa and the role she played in the lives of many depressed and abandoned people were also highlighted.
She truly was a guiding light whom the Almighty God had sent to earth with the message of service and love. The programme was concluded with the vote of thanks delivered by Swaswate Deb of class XII CBSE, sincerely thanking all those who had worked hard behind the scenes tirelessly to make this day a successful one.
